Animal Abuse Gone Wild

Picture
For about a decade, I, Patricia Price, have been researching and protesting cruelty to animals used in circuses. I want to get the word out that compassion conquers chaos! If we can teach our children the truth about the suffering of animals in circuses, Then they can grow to be more compassionate individuals in a less chaotic world.

Ever since I understood the truths about animals used in circuses, I've been horrified at the injustice and cruelty perpetrated against these innocent ones. Each year as the circus comes to my town, I am reminded that all animals in traveling circuses are abused, lonely, fearful and ill. Cramped in poorly ventilated boxcars, the animals stand for hours in their own waste, traveling in all weather conditions. Elephants, zebras, tigers, llamas, monkeys, camels, horses, ponies, and even dogs never choose to be part of a traveling circus. Ex-convicts, sex offenders and pedophiles are just some people employed in circuses using animals. These exhausted and irritated employees maneuver and manipulate the confused wild animals in each town and state all year. The chaos is wrong, inhumane and insane!

All parents are thrilled to excite their children. But taking children to a circus using animals is choosing not to see the obvious. Possibly the elephants giving the children rides are suffering with tuberculosis, a common airborne illness with elephants. More progressive circuses like Cirque du Soleil dazzle their audiences with skilled human performers, rather than with miserable captive animals. Cirque du soleil is a wonderful and cruelty free circus.  Please choose. It's healthy for children and animals.

Several Examples of the meaningless deaths of countless animals used in circuses
  • According to an affidavit by former Ringling lion handler Frank Hagan, a 2-year-old lion named Clyde died while traveling through the intense heat of the Mojave Desert in a poorly ventilated boxcar without being checked or given water. The lion is believed to have died from heatstroke and dehydration.
  • Ringling euthanized Josky, a 43-year-old female Asian elephant who was captured in the wild
  • Two Ringling horses were struck by a freight train as they were being unloaded from the circus train near Dayton, Ohio. One horse died instantly, and the other was euthanized at the scene.
  • An Asian elephant named Gildah died. She was captured in the wild and used in Siegfried & Roy’s casino act. She was kept in solitary confinement at the Mirage Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. Feld Entertainment refused a USDA recommendation to conduct a necropsy on Gildah.
